Holding on to Hope

Holding on to hope isn’t about pretending everything is fine—it’s about learning where to run when you’re desperate.

In this message from Mark 5, we look at the story of a woman who has been bleeding for twelve years – sick, broke, isolated, and labeled “unclean.” She’s tried every doctor and spent everything she has, but instead of getting better, she’s grown worse. When she hears about Jesus, her desperation finally leads her in the right direction: she presses through the crowd just to touch the fringe of His cloak, believing, “If I just touch His clothes, I will be healed.”

This message reminds us that spiritual desperation can either drive us toward quick fixes that leave us empty—or toward the Savior who actually changes us. We talked about how our desperation is meant to lead us to Jesus, how one encounter with Him can change everything, and how He gives us three powerful gifts: a new identity, real peace, and freedom from the suffering that has defined us for so long.

Maybe you’ve been feeling spiritually dry, empty, or exhausted. Maybe you’ve tried to numb the pain with distractions, habits, or “fixes” that never really heal you. This message will invite you to bring your desperation to Jesus, let Him speak “daughter” or “son” over your life, and learn to rest in the One whose yoke is easy and burden is light.
